The "Beloved" litter arrives!

Sailor had her litter of three beautiful pups yesterday, 7-23-09. This is six months to the day when she whelped her last litter. Sailor was not supposed to breed this cycle, we wanted her to rest before another litter. I lost focus on Sailor one day when our youngest son was struck by a van while riding his bike to school the last week of high school. His injuries were heart wrenching to see, broken teeth, cut up lips, lots of road rash, broken elbow and nose, badly damaged knee..but he did have his helmet on and so survived. When we got home from the hospital, Sailor and Jake were tied. The last two months, while Sailor carried these pups, were tumultulous times. There was the hospitalization of our son to get through and then many doctor visits while he healed. I managed to make it to some dog shows where Jake continues his show career and Pilgrim is starting his. I lost a tooth and stopped practicing karate. My old Subaru blew up its second engine and we were blessed with a wonderful van. The garden is big and takes a lot of watering, the chickens, the ducks, the geese, the goats, all need care but give back. Jake picked up an expensive foxtail in his ear on the Fourth of July. My mother suffered a life threatening medical emergency and needed surgery. It was such a dark time when my family and I worried if she would survive. We are giving thanks and praises now because she recovered very nicely and was discharged from the hospital yesterday. It was her and my dad's 59th wedding anniversary too! In the evening, Sailor had a quick and easy delivery of her litter, a small one, as we had requested. |
